Spring Clothing and Shoe Drive

As you start your spring cleaning, please consider packing up your outgrown clothes and shoes and donating them to our annual Spring Clothing Drive! When you donate to this great event, you are helping provide one of life’s most basic necessities to those who need it most. Clothing donations are for the Salvation Army/Christ Church Food Pantry. Help us fill the truck each of these three days to help as many families as we can!  Volunteers will be available to help unload vehicles.

Kids Hope Informational Meeting
April 23, 10:30 a.m. Room 263

Kids Hope Informational Meeting

Kids Hope is a strong nationwide organization dedicated to helping children.  Christ Church members Ellen Jurkonis and Ruth Vanderlaan have recently completed their Kids Hope training and are looking forward to leading a group of volunteers into the important service role of mentoring children in our community.

Two roles are needed:  mentoring and being a prayer partner to a mentor.  Mentors will meet weekly with their students.  Prayer partners will not meet with students weekly but will provide important spiritual support for their mentor.  Currently, the project will involve mentors meeting once a week at either York Center School or Stevenson School.  Both schools are in District 45 and are located near Westmore/Meyers Road and Roosevelt Road.

The goal is to have mentors begin their meetings with students in the middle of September.  We know that is months away, but there are many steps to take before we can have mentors begin.  We’ve started taking those steps and look forward to the time when mentors walk into a building to meet their students.  The first step will be attending this Kids Hope meeting on April 23rd.
