High School

A weekly rhythm is important for high school students to keep Jesus in the center of their lives. Our three weekly connection points are designed to help our students, wherever they are at with their faith, to live a life where they worship, grow, and serve as followers of Jesus Christ.

High School Connections:

Roca Y Agua

June 11-16

Roca Y Agua

Roca Y Agua is our annual adventure trip that provides high school students with an entry point into our Christ Church of Oak Brook High School Ministry. Roca is literally a floating summer camp where each student:

  • Lives on a houseboat, with same gender students, and a couple of Adult Staff

  • Experiences our larger community all day long through wake boarding, water skiing, cliff jumping, and a ridiculous mid-week water olympic boat-against-boat lake competition

  • Encounters God through our small group boat times as well as evening roof top worship gatherings

Sunday June 11th at 11:00pm - Friday June 16th at 9pm

We recognize that summer camps can add up, especially when you have a house full of children.  This year we have worked really hard, and taken a huge leap of faith to make Roca Y Agua affordable for families while still keeping all of the amazing activities that make ROCA awesome!  We are excited to announce that for the first time Roca will be under $500!

Early Bird Registration: February 8-22 - $495

Regular Registration: February 23- May 7 - $550

Lazy Bird Registration: May 8 - June 11 - $600

Historically we have driven all day and arrived at the boat docks at 10pm.  However we have found that this increases the stress level for our students and staff and produces unnecessary anxiety for our first time campers. In order to minimize this stress, cut substantial cost and maximize our time out on the boats; Roca will be leaving at 11pm on Sunday night, and arriving at the boat docks at 9am Monday morning.  Students will sleep through the ride and wake up to beautiful Bull Shoals Lake!

Summer House Groups
Wednesdays 7:00 – 8:45pm (June 7 – July 19)

Summer House Groups

During the summer we have a unique opportunity to meet in homes throughout our community.  Our students break off into four different house groups to engage in fellowship, snacks, and an awesome video series exploring the parables of Jesus.  To make things easy, this year our students will be broken up into house groups based on their grade.  Come on out to join us this summer for these low-key small groups!  It should be awesome!

High School Mission Trips

High School Mission Trips

In order to meet the increasing demand for our summer mission trips we have expanded to two unique service opportunities!  For the first time ever our 9th and 10th graders will be heading off to Boston for an intensive urban mission project while our 11th and 12th graders get their hands dirty building homes in Baja Mexico.

Boston Urban Mission Project ***WAIT LIST ONLY*** (Incoming 9th and 10th Grade Students Only)

Our Boston trip has sold out!  However we anticipate a few spots opening up in the months to come, so please register without payment for our wait list.  We will notify you as spots open up on a first come, first serve basis.

Dates: July 22-29

Our 9th and 10th grade students will be heading off for an incredible week serving the disenfranchised in one of the most historically significant and culturally rich cities in our country.  We will be partnering with the Center for Student Missions in order to plug in with some great local organizations meeting the needs of the homeless in Boston!

Baja (Incoming 11th and 12th Grade Students Only)

Dates: July 22-30

Our 11th and 12th grade students will be heading off to Baja Mexico to build homes in one of Mexico's poorest communities.  We will be partnering with DOXA to build 4 homes and get a first hand look at international missions.

Sundays 7:00 – 8:45pm (Sept – May)

Sundays 7:00 – 8:45pm (Sept – May)
Student Center One

Our weekly large group gathering is divided into two chapters:

  1. Large Group [7:00‐8:00 pm] is where we gather for worship, an interactive message, and fellowship. We work through our yearly curriculum focusing on placing Jesus at the center of our relationship with God, our self, others, and our world.
  2. Small Groups [8:00‐8:45 pm] is where we process what we have experienced in Large Group. With Bibles and a Talksheet, alongside same grade/same gender small group members, under the guidance of an adult leader, we seek to make a large group feel small as we develop and deepen our relationship with God and one another. Our small groups provide each student with a groups of friends who can encourage, challenge, and keep them accountable on the journey of discipleship.

Mosaic Community
Wednesdays 7:00 – 8:30pm (Mid August – May)

Mosaic Community

Mosaic Community
Wednesdays 7:00 – 8:30pm (Mid August – May)

Mosaic provides an opportunity for our committed students to develop and grow as student leaders. Mosaic is a leadership community of broken tiles (adult leaders and students) who desire to serve out of how they are wired. Whether students feel most alive connecting to God and His people with their hands, heart, soul, or mind, Mosaic has a “leadership tile” for them.

Our weekly Mosaic Gatherings are divided into two chapters:

  1. Mosaic Community [7:00‐7:45pm] gathers for a spiritual exercise, leadership training, and collaboration in the designing, developing and ownership of our ministry together.
  2. Tile Time [7:45‐8:30pm] is where our students collaborate, within the specific tasks connected to their tile to design, develop, and own the various aspects of our complete high school ministry. Each tile has an Adult Leader who is wired just like the students in his/her tile, creating a multi‐ generational approach to leadership development.

Students apply to join our Mosaic Community. We have an August Retreat / January Stay‐Treat.

Contemporary or Classic Worship
Sundays 10:45am (year round)

10:45 Contemporary or Classic Worship

Contemporary or Classic Worship
Sundays 10:45am (year round

This worship service has become a place where many of our students effectively connect to God and His People. We meet in Fellowship Hall for contemporary style worship and the Sanctuary for classic. Our hope is that our students will enter into a weekly rhythm of corporate worship — at 10:45am or at one of our other worship services.
