Prayer Opportunities

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” -Philippians 4:6-7

What the Bible Teaches About Healing the Sick

We know the topic of praying for sick people to be healed can be confusing for some Christians because there are varying views on this vital subject. However, the Scriptures are full of both directives and instructions for Christ's followers to pray for Divine healing.

In this seminar, we will take a deep dive into exactly what Jesus and the Apostles taught in the Scriptures about healing and how God commands us to do it! This is so very important because prayers for healing are a primary request we receive week in and week out.

Jesus healed the sick & even raised the dead–and so did Paul & Peter and we are all directly encouraged to pray for the sick.

Some of the topics we will cover are:

    • Does God still supernaturally heal the sick today?
    • Do miracles still happen in the 21st century?
    • What is God’s Will concerning healing prayers?
    • How exactly should we pray for sick people – is there a formula for this?
    • Is healing prayer for Pastors and Elders only or can God heal through all believers?
    • Are there times NOT to pray for healing?
    • If someone is sinning, will God still heal them?
    • What is the spiritual gift of healing and does it operate in our world?
    • If we pray for someone to be healed and they aren’t healed, what does that mean?
    • Should we keep praying even when we don’t see obvious results?

Please plan to make this training a priority as Rick opens the Scripture to encourage us to pray for the sick of body, mind & spirit.

“Healing Prayer is a medical and scientific issue. Today over 150 controlled studies investigating the effects of intercessory healing prayer have been carried out and over 60% of these show statistical evidence that healing prayer has a powerful & significant effect. In addition, more than 250 studies show that on average, religious practice that includes prayer promotes health”.  –Dr. Larry Dossey, M.D. Healing Prayer is Good Medicine.

A light lunch will be served for $5.00 per person. Payable online or by cash or check at the event.

    Prayer Shawl Ministry
    First Wednesdays | 11:00 a.m. | Oak Brook

    First Wednesday | 11:00 a.m. | The Commons | Oak Brook

We want people to know that they are seen in their season of struggle and hardship. Prayer shawls and blankets are a tangible expression of the love of God and His people. Our hope is that as people wrap themselves in this gift they will be reminded of His tenderness and care during the highs and lows of life.

Our group gathers monthly to pray while knitting or crocheting prayer shawls, as well as sewing prayer blankets. We enjoy community, praying together and using our creative gifts to serve the people of Christ Church. If you’re interested in joining us or starting a group at another time contact Jean Blidy at jblidy@ChristChurch.us or 630.321.3936.

God invites us to pray for each other. The Pastoral Care ministry will humbly bring your requests before God. Please submit your prayer requests using this form. All prayer requests will be confidential.
